Three taxidrivers fined

THREE Londonderry taxi drivers have been fined for enjoying illicit cigarettes in their vehicles over the summer.

The ban on smoking in taxis and public vehicles was introduced in 2007 and the report of Derry City Council’s Chief Environmental Health Officer for September reveals that during the summer recess three fixed penalty notices were served on drivers of vehicles for the offence of smoking in a smoke-free place.

Smoking is now illegal under the Smoking (NI) Order 2006 - Article 8.
