Torch welcome
RESPONDING to the release of the official route of the Olympic Torch in Northern Ireland, Ulster Unionist MLA Jo-Anne Dobson said she was “delighted to see it come to Portadown, Gilford and then Banbridge.
The run comes to the borough the late afternoon of Tuesday, June 5, as it makes its way to the Olympic Stadium in Stratford, east London.
“I would encourage as many people as possible to arrange to take part in this event and to support our local Torchbearers because this really gives local people a chance to take part in the Olympics. Each of the torchbearer has a special story or will have made positive contributions to our local community.”
