Warning on marching season

The chance of a more peaceful marching season could be lost if an alternative to the Parades Commission is not found.

The Chairperson of the Stoneyford Jubilee Committee, Mr William Robert, said: “If a solution is not found, and found quickly at that, then thoughts of a more positive peaceful marching season in the area is in very real danger of being lost.

“The Committee stand ready to assist in moving forward, but find this impossible with a draconian Parades Commission in place.”

Mr Robert was speaking in support of comments made in last week’s Star by former Lisburn Mayor Cecil Calvert.
