Youth team on visit to Stormont

Ulster Unionist MLA Jo-Anne Dobson hosted members of the Every Night Project (ENP) at Parliament Buildings, Stormont.

ENP is a youth centre which is run by young people, for young people in the Banbridge District.

Previously known as the Source, ENP was based until recently in the Old Town Hall and has just opened a brand new centre in Rathfriland Street.

Mrs Dobson said: “It was a pleasure to host members of the group in their recent visit to Stormont and I will be delighted to welcome them to their new Rathfriland Street venue.

“ENP is an excellent example of how we can empower our young people to rise to new challenges, to manage their own projects and activities and to play an important and relevant role in our local community. I would encourage all young people between 14 and 25 years old to call in and get involved in the many activities which ENP will be organising in the coming weeks and months.

“As a member of the Assembly’s Education Committee we are looking into the valuable work which school councils provide in our schools by allowing pupils a direct say in aspects of school life.

“I know young people who join ENP can become directly involved in the management of their centre through their Youth Management Forum, a concept of which I am extremely supportive.”
