Polly, Romeo and Scamp need homes

Dogs Trust Ballymena is hoping three overlooked dogs will finally find their forever homes after 366 days in total spent at the Rehoming Centre.

Scamp, the two-year-old Jack Russell has seen 284 of his canine companions find loving homes during his eight month spell at Dogs Trust Ballymena. Retired romantic, Romeo, a nine-year-old Border Collie, has watched 57 happy hounds find new homes since arriving just after Christmas last year. Polly the Collie, who was found as a stray a dog in November 2014, has seen 114 dogs leave with new families.

Dogs Trust Ballymena Assistant Manager Marbeth Gilmour said: “Scamp, Romeo and Polly are such lovely dogs, they are all very popular with the Rehoming Centre staff and I just don’t understand why they continue to be overlooked. They all have different personalities and need someone who is willing to spend time getting to know them and give lots of love and attention.”

Scamp is a small dog with a big personality. He loves his toys and enjoys playing fetch and tug of war. His ideal day is a long walk followed by delicious doggy treats and a snooze by the fire. Scamp is super clever and has his basic house training but needs someone who is willing to continue with his training. He is very shy and needs someone who can visit the centre a few times to build his confidence. He’s looking for a quiet home with few visitors and no children as they are a little too loud for him.

Romeo affectionately known as ‘Romey’ is a super sweet-natured dog looking for a quiet home with lots of home comforts and duvets to snuggle on. He loves people and lots of cuddles and also gets on well with other dogs. Romey has diabetes but it doesn’t affect his love for life and Dogs Trust veterinary team can advise on this. He will love his new family so much that they will need to be around for the majority of the time whilst he settles in.

Two-year-old Polly is a beautiful dog who leads a very active lifestyle. She loves playing with her toys and exploring on long walks. Polly knows all her basic training but needs an owner who is willing to continue this training but as she loves her treats so much she will be a pleasure to train. She would prefer to live in an adult only home or a family with teenage children. Polly is very clever and needs lots of mental and physical stimulation so an active home would be ideal.

Marbeth hopes they find their forever homes soon: “All three dogs would really benefit from a loving environment so I just hope the right owners are just around the corner. It’s been hard for all three to see so many of their friends find new homes but I know their time will come!”
