Pomeroy man arrested over 2008 car bomb in Castlederg that left officer injured

The 44-year-old Pomeroy man arrested by detectives on Wednesday in relation to a car bomb in Castlederg, remains in police custody.

While a 38-year-old man who was also arrested on the same date in Lisburn is due to appear at Strabane Magistrates Court this morning [Thursday] charged with attempted murder.

A third man, 37, from Toombridge has been released unconditionally after police questioning.

All three were arrested in relation to the 2008 car bomb which left a police officer suffering serious leg injuries.

The 38-year-old has been charged with attempted murder, causing an explosion likely to endanger life or cause serious injury to property and belonging to or professing to belong to a proscribed organisation.
