Poppy Appeal thanks

The Whitehead branch of the Royal British Legion has thanked the people of Whitehead, Islandmagee and Ballycarry for their generous donations to this year’s Poppy appeal, which raised £7500.

“For our district that’s a very good result so we’d just like to thank the people of the area for their support,” said organiser Victor Crampton.

Earlier this year, the branch thanked sellers for their hard work during the launch of the 2013 appeal.

Accolades were handed out to mark a combined total of 170 years service from sellers associated with the branch.

The UK-wide target for this year’s appeal was £37 million, which aims to support the British Armed Forces past and present and their families.
