If you bought a poppy in Moira from door-to-door volunteers during the 2014 Poppy Appeal, there’s a chance you met Mrs Lennon, who has been collecting for the charity for over 35 years.

The Lurgan branch of the Royal British Legion held their annual Poppy supper last week, and a number of volunteer collectors attended the event. Speaking at the event, Chairperson and Poppy Appeal Organiser at the Lurgan branch, Roberta McNally, paid tribute to all of the volunteers who faced the cold weather to collect for the Poppy Appeal during October and November.

Roberta also commented: “I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who contributes to the Poppy Appeal; they all play a vital role in the welfare of our armed forces and their families. This year’s appeal is well on its way to exceeding last year’s total.”

I think Mrs Lennon deserves recognition!”
