She said: “We have all worked so hard over the past year to fundraise for Northern Ireland Hospice, and this fantastic amount is a testament to all that hard work.

“Members of the group are extremely dedicated to the cause and strive to raise the profile and awareness of the hospice in the local community. We couldn’t have achieved this amount without the kind generosity of the people from Portrush, to whom we extend a very big thank you.”

John Phillips, Community Fundraiser for the Northern Ireland Hospice added; “Every year NI Hospice needs £3 million from voluntary donations and legacies to continue providing specialist nursing care to patients and their families because the demand for hospice care continues and sadly many more people will need our help in the coming months.

“We simply could not continue to run our services without the support of the public, groups and volunteers.

“Every £30 raised pays for one hour of specialist nursing care for a patient, we need your support to continue this.”
