Portrush Lifeboat crew boosted by charity cheque

The crew of Portrush RNLI have been boosted thanks to a generous donation from Original Factory Shop in Portrush.

The shop is very popular in Portrush with locals and visitors alike and in 2014, they nominated Portrush RNLI Station as one of their charities of the year.

The shop raised funds by selling bags to people who shopped with them.

Tommy Doherty Store Manager said: “It was important to our staff that we selected a local charity, and as we trade in Portrush and can see the Lifeboat Station from our store we thought of no better team to pick than the volunteer crew of the RNLI.”

Robin Cardwell, Lifeboat Operations Manager commented: “The crew are delighted that the Original Factory Shop picked us as their charity of the year. “We depend entirely on fundraisers like this to help us save lives at sea.”

The staff from the store took time out to meet the crew and have a tour of the lifeboat station during last Saturday’s SOS Day.

They handed over a cheque for £300.
