Portrush man honoured

PORTRUSH man Alan Thomson has been awarded the MBE for his work as Director of the Orchardville Society.

His MBE is in recognition of his services to people with learning disabilities in Northern Ireland.

Alan Thomson has led and grown his organisation from a very small service to that of a multifaceted organisation employing over 50 people providing quality services.

His vision for The Orchardville Society became a reality in relation to the outcomes and outputs delivered by his organisation. He also ensured all opportunities for the Orchardville team are underpinned by quality evidenced by Investors in People attainment and continued achievements in the National Training Awards.

Alan has a style of enablement by allowing staff to pilot and try new ideas in pushing forward the vision of the organisation.

Also honoured in the awards was Alison McCaughan from Castlerock who earned the MBE for public service
