Portrush man told to 'get help and stay out of trouble'

A PORTRUSH man with an alcohol problem, has been fined and warned to stay out of trouble, a court has heard.

David James Milliken (44) of Ramore Court in Portrush, came before last Wednesday’s sitting of North Antrim Magistrates’ Court charged with disorderly behaviour.

The court heard that police were called to an address in Kylemore Road in Coleraine on October 13 last year by the homeowner who had reported a disturbance. When police arrived, they were told that the owner had tried to get Milliken out of the house, but he became aggressive.

Milliken became aggressive to police and when cautioned he replied: ‘F*ck you, I’ll take the rap’.

Milliken’s solicitor, Sam Barr, told the court that his client was an alcoholic, and as a result had medical complications.

He said that on the day in question, Milliken has been drinking at a friend’s house, and when police arrived he was shocked to see them and as a result he reacted to their presence.

Mr Barr said Milliken was taking steps to address his addiction.

District Judge, Richard Wilson, said: “Stupid behaviour, if you persist you know what will happen.”

He fined Milliken 200 and warned him: “Get help and stay out of trouble.”
