Portrush RNLI receives donation from Toms family

PORTRUSH volunteer lifeboat crew, received a lovely gift from Mr and Mrs Ewart Toms from Portstewart recently.

The couple, well known butchers, recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary, and instead of gifts they asked that family and friends make a donation instead to Portrush Lifeboat Station.

Ewart and his wife celebrated their golden anniversary with their four children and four grnadchildren in the Lodge hotel, and raised a sum of £500 which they handed over to Robin Cardwell Lifeboat Operations manager and representatives of the volunteer lifeboat crew at their local station in Portrush

Mr and Mrs Toms said: “We have lived on the North Coast all our lives and we have supported the lifeboat for many years.

“We wanted to mark this special occasion in our lives, by making a donation to a cause cloae to our hearts, and to the volunteers who risk their lives to save others”

Robin Cardwell, Lifeboat Operations Manager, said: “The team at Portrush Lifeboat Station would like to congratulate Mr and Mrs Toms on their 50th wedding anniversary, and we are delighted that they have made Portrush RNLI crew this donation.

“It’s donations like this and many others that help our volunteer crew continue to save lives at sea around the North Coast.”

The Toms family joined the crew after their Sunday morning training exercise to hand over the cheque and receive the congratulations and best wishes of the crew.
