Portrush takeaway refused

PLANS to turn a shop in Portrush's Causeway Street into a hot food takeaway have been refused by Planners.

The application by Glenmark Development was for 3 Causeway Street and was turned down because the development would harm the living conditions of the neighbouring residents because of noise, odour and disturbance.

Planners also said that there is adequate provision of take-aways in the area.

At Tuesday's meeting of Coleraine Borough Council's Planning Committee, Alderman James McClure asked for an office meeting to discuss the matter further.

However Portrush councillor Christine Alexander said that she would not support an office meeting as she agreed with Planners that the plans should be turned down.

She failed to find a supporter her proposal so the office meeting will go ahead.
