Portstewart Presbyterian Church Easter Auction

FOR a number of years Portstewart Presbyterian Church annual auction has topped the £4,000 to £5,000 figure to benefit the congregation.

It has also allowed for an opportunity to offload many household items that are no longer useful or needed in members’ and friends’ homes and attracted a large audience at the viewing and sale prepared to bid for those items thus providing income for the church’s work.

The event has seen numerous interesting lots sold as bargains and others found as treasures, where a boxed lot contained hall-marked silver.

The excitement is often palatable and the day, though lasting until early evening, just flies such is the variety and quality.

This year Will Browne and his team have been offered a full set of five Memories in Focus books by a friend of the congregation. These volumes have often featured in fund-raising efforts and can make sums of £200 and more.

Also already donated are a large Reilly painting, at least one Causeway stone, 1960s china cabinet, jardiniere, three-seater leather settee, two Parker Knoll chairs (recently re-covered), jewellery, clocks for restoration, toys, electrical goods and various beautiful ornaments.

The date of the auction is Saturday, April 14 from midday. Viewing takes place on the previous night (Friday) from 7pm to 9pm and on the day of the auction from 10am Admission to viewing and sale is by catalogue only at £1-00 and there will be catering on the day of the sale. Bids can be left with a steward for those unable to attend.
