Portstewart woman is third in G.I. Jane event

PORTSTEWART woman Aileen Moore recently took part in Meningitis Research Foundation's GI Jane ladies challenge event at The Scout Centre in Crawfordsburn Country Park.

Aileen was one of 53 participants who underwent a series of physical and mental challenges to raise vital funds for Meningitis Research Foundation.

Aileen managed to come third on the day missing out to Lorraine Smyth from Dromara who scooped the GI Jane 2010 title. Aileen was part of the ‘Blondes’ team which managed to raise an exceptional 1,204.81.

Ireland manager Diane McConnell said: “We are delighted that so many ladies came out to support the Foundation, it was a fantastic fundraiser raising 7,669.64 with more sponsorship still to come. This money will go a long way in helping us achieve our aim of a world free from meningitis and septicaemia.”
