Positives in defeat

LURGAN 2nds fell to a 33-5 defeat at the hands of Ballymoney 4ths on Saturday, but the team can take heart from their second half performance.

The opening 10 minutes was keenly contested at Pollock Park, but once the experience Ballymoney side notched their first score the floodgates opened for the next 20 minutes as the home side leaked 33 points.

Stability was restored towards the end of the half and in the second half Lurgan took the game to their opponents and were unlucky not to get more than five points on the scoreboard courtesy of an Andi Stevenson try.

This year's 2nd XV have demonstrated the desire, skill and discipline to succeed, but learnt on Saturday these positive attributes need to be consistent over 80 minutes.
