Post-exam advice available

GCSE and A-level students who have recently received their results are being urged to avail of the information and guidance offered by the Careers Service Northern Ireland.

‘’Results time has once again arrived, bringing with it excitement and in some cases disappointment to students across Northern Ireland,” said Frances O’Hara, Head of Operations in the Department for Employment and Learning’s Careers Service.

“The importance of making an informed decision following examination results is imperative to effective career planning. Taking time now to explore options will pay dividends in the future.

“Different scenarios will face students at this time. Many will have received the results they expected and are finalising their next steps; others will have received better than expected results and will need to take stock of the many options now open to them.

“Some may be disappointed with their grades and have no idea of what to do next. Regardless of the situation, all will need to consider carefully the option best suited to them.

“Careers Advisers are professionally qualified to give guidance appropriate to the needs of students at this crucial time. Whatever your results, it is vitally important that you take time to explore the options available to you,” added Frances.
