Poster row spells acrimonious campaign in East Londonderry

CONSERVATIVE and Unionist candidate for East Londonderry Lesley McAulay has hit back at DUP rival Gregory Campbell after his put down over a mis-spelt election poster.

After alternative "Macauley" and "Macaulay" posters appeared in the constituency Mr Campbell acerbically remarked: "If they are going to fix the economy and get that sorted, they need to be able to get their name right."

Now the UCUNF candidate has hit back at the outgoing MP stating: "Rather than explain to the people of East Londonderry how he is going to address the increase in job losses and business closures in the constituency since he became the MP, Gregory Campbell has instead issued a press statement on the earth shattering consequences of a little spelling mistake on some of my posters!

"For the record, there are 3 'A's in Macaulay. That's the same number of 'A's as Gregory Campbell has jobs! Of course, the DUP prefer words with 3 'E's like 'ExpEnsEs' and 'dEvElopErs'!'

"East Londonderry deserves better. We need a positive, open, committed and energetic, full time MP who is 100% committed to the people of East Londonderry."
