Potential traffic delays as a result of Bloody Sunday and loyalist civil rights events

THE PSNI have advised of potential traffic delays in Londonderry as a result of annual the Bloody Sunday commemoration in the city and also from the Loyalist Civil Rights parade in the Waterside.

A PSNI spokeswoman stated: “A Bloody Sunday Commemoration Parade will take place in the Creggan, Brandywell and Bogside areas of the City on Sunday afternoon.

“At around 2.30pm the parade will leave Central Drive in Creggan and follow a route towards; Southway - Lonemoore Road - Brandywell Avenue - Lecky Road - Westland Street - William Street - Rossville Street.

“The parade is expected to disperse at around 5.30pm from the Rossville Street/Free Derry Corner area.

“Please advise motorists to expect traffic delays and they should seek alternative routes. The area around Rossville Street will be closed to traffic from around 4.30pm to 5.30pm.”

With regard to the Loyalist Civil Rights parade she said it “will gather at Bond Street at around 2.30pm and follow a route from - Glendermott Road - Irish Street and will return and disperse at the Health Centre on Glendermott Road at around 3.30pm.

“Please advise motorists to seek alternative routes as traffic will be delayed and roads may be closed for a short time.

“Please also advise motorists travelling to the GAA match in Celtic Park on Sunday afternoon to use Crescent Link and Foyle Bridge.”
