Poundstretcher blaze: Original Londonderry discounter totally gutted

Londonderry’s original discount retailer Poundstretcher has been totally gutted in an overnight blaze, the cause of which remains unknown.

Firefighters were still on site at 10am on Thursday, July 16, battling to keep the fire under control.

Officers continued to dampen the smouldering building from an appliance on Bishop Street whilst further crews accessed the rear of the building from the back of First Derry Presbyterian Church.

Cordons remained in place at Bishop Street and the Diamond.
