The fault affected homes and businesses in the Ahoghill, Galgorm, Cullybackey, Rasharkin, Kilrea, Maghera, Portglenone, Draperstown and Cloughmills areas.
The NIE spokeswoman said NIE engineers were still investigating the cause of the fault which is understood not to be weather related.
