The cases, if brought, will come before the courts imminently. A PPS spokesperson confirmed to the Sentinel: “We can confirm that a decision has been taken to prosecute five defendants for contravention of the Waste and Contaminated Land (NI) Order 1997 in relation to the unlawful disposal of waste which was discovered on the Mobuoy Road, Londonderry in March 2012.”

The Northern Ireland Environment Agency (NIEA) sent a file to the PPS in March in relation to alleged illegal dumping following an investigation dubbed Operation Sycamore.
