Praise for Care in Crisis from politicians

Local Ulster Unionist MLA Jo-Anne Dobson accompanied by the party’s MEP Jim Nicholson, Councillor Colin McCusker and Council candidate Aaron Carson met with Director Karen Moore and staff to discuss the confidential, caring service they provide to local people.

Commenting Mrs Dobson said: “It’s a sad fact that many couples and their families face a tough time over Christmas and into the early months of a new year.

“For many this can be a time when people look for help to resolve their financial or relationship problems.

“The volunteer counsellors at Care in Crisis work with people to help them find a positive route out of their problems.

“They undertook over 1,800 one hour counselling sessions last year and received over 400 referrals, many of which came through local GPs.

“The issues which they deal with include anger, anxiety/stress, bereavement, depression, pregnancy related issues, Relationships, Self Esteem and Trauma.

“Their dedicated team of counsellors provide confidential advice to people and are deserving of our wholehearted support. They also provide a service to help train new counsellors

“Counselling services will receive a higher number of calls in January, suggesting that many people are considering what they want from their relationships and what their next steps will be.

“Contacting a service such as Care in Crisis is a positive step and can often be a first stage in talking through and working out the best way out of problems. I send my best wishes to the management and staff at Care in
