Praise for Niamh at Little Orchids Children’s Centreat Gransha

Little Orchids Children’s Centre in Gransha recognised Niamh’s volunteering commitment at a special Christmas lunch on Thursday 19 December.

Niamh is 17 years old and is acutely aware that it is important to give something to your local community. Niamh volunteers once a month at the Centre, supporting the children’s activities and any additional fundraising and maintenance roles that she can do. Niamh received her 50 Hour Millennium Volunteers Award at the lunch.

This was presented by Jane Gribbin, Manager of Youth Volunteering within Volunteer Now. Jane stated that: “Niamh is a great example of a young person who is willing to give freely of her own time for the benefit not only of the Centre but ultimately for the Children and this is crucial not only for the Centre but also for Niamh’s own personal, social and professional development.” Niamh plans to continue her volunteering and encourages others to do the same, “If you have any spare time it feels good to help other people”.
