Anne Marie McGrath of Pharmacy Plus recently attended one of the information evenings, which are aimed at improving public understanding of the substances.

Describing the presentation as “very powerful” and “well-delivered,” Ms McGrath stated: “As a pharmacist, mother and aunt, I felt the session was to-the-point, covering vital information, but in an informal setting which allowed participants to ask questions freely.

“Thank you to PAL for the opportunity to attend and I would encourage anyone wishing to increase their knowledge of legal highs to get involved.”

PAL secretary Beverly Sharples told the Times recently that the talks helped to “dispel the myths” around legal highs.

She continued: “We will find out what parents know and work from there.

“We will tell them the facts about legal highs and what to look out for regarding different behaviour, right down to the devastating effects they have.
