Praise heaped on Larne-based employer awareness event

OVER 20 local employers have attended a networking event at Willowbank Business Park.

The Department for Employment and Learning (DEL), in partnership with Larne Borough Council and LEDCOM, held the successful Employer Awareness Event on Friday, giving employers an overview of the range of services and programmes available from the Department including Steps to Work employer subsidy, management and leadership programmes, Investors in People and Apprenticeships NI.

Minister for Employment and Learning Dr Stephen Farry said: “I welcome my Department’s association with events such as these which bring employers, expert advisers and support organisations together under one roof.

“This was an excellent opportunity for employers in the Larne area to get an insight into the range of programmes and support DEL can offer.”

Kieran McArdle, district manager with the Department added: “Feedback from both exhibitors and those attending the event was very encouraging.

“We had over 20 employers through the doors with a number of support organisations exhibiting including Larne Development Forum, LEDCOM, Larne Skills and the Northern Regional College.”

Participants at the event also learnt how local employer Larne Community Enterprises have successfully benefited from DEL programmes.

The Department also has a series of information packs entitled ‘Get Ahead – Get Our Help’, which summarise the full range of measures which will benefit individuals and employers.
