Praised for giving back to Lisburn

Lisburn’s Brian Agnew, pastor of Lisburn City Church, formerly known as the Kingdom Life City Church, has won a Halifax Giving Extra Award.

Mr Agnew has been recognised by the local panel of the Halifax Giving Extra Awards for setting up a Trussell Trust Food Bank in Lisburn to help those who are in need and hungry.

Nominated by Lynn McMahon, a member of the Lisburn City Church, Brian has gone above and beyond for the people in his community.

Brian, along with his team of volunteers, regularly organises local food collections at the supermarket.

At Christmas 100 food hampers were given out to those truly in need.

The Food Bank at the Lisburn City Church helps to feed families, the elderly and homeless people.

“I am incredibly grateful to have won an award,” said Brian.

“It is great to feel recognised and spurs you on to keep doing what you’re doing.

“The Lisburn Food Bank is a real team effort.

“It wouldn’t be a success without all the volunteers and the good people of Lisburn who donate and support it.”

Awards ambassador, the television and Heart presenter Jenni Falconer, said: “Halifax Giving Extra Award winner, Brian, truly deserves this recognition for all he has done to help others and improve community life.

“He has made a real difference to the people living in Lisburn.”
