Pramble walkfirst for theNorth Coast

Coleraine business people are organising the north coast's first '˜Pramble', a sponsored walk specially devised for families with children of all ages and abilities.

The event, which takes place on Saturday, April 2, takes walkers along Portrush’s West Strand promenade and out the coast to Juniper Hill on a flat path suitable for tiny legs as well as all kinds of buggies and wheeled chairs.

Claire Ravenscroft, who works at Paul Robinson Mortgages in Coleraine, came up with the idea of organising a pramble - a ramble that is suitable for prams and toddlers - after struggling to come up with fundraising event ideas that were practical for people with families and young children.

Claire said: “I thought it might be quite nice to have an event that is accessible to all ages, particularly children, and could include the whole family. Taking my daughter Olivia out for a walk in her pram when she was a baby was one of my favourite things to do and I thought it would be a lovely way to raise money for NSPCC and be able to enjoy the lovely scenery on the way.”

When pramble walkers arrive at Juniper Hill Caravan Park, they will be greeted with refreshments provided by NSPCC supporters Bob and Bert’s before ambling back down to the West Strand, or ending the walk at the caravan park if they’d prefer.

As well as Paul Robinson Mortgages and Bob and Bert’s, the event is being supported by CausewayCoast and Glens Borough Council, Tesco, and Kiddiecal. Karen Kerr, NSPCC fundraising manager said: “We’re really excited to be involved with this fantastic family event.

To take part contact the NSPCC team on 028 90351135 or email [email protected] before Friday, March 25.
