Praxis care launches Read It!

PRAXIS Care have launched their Praxis Care Sponsored Read It! for 2012. The Sponsored Read It! Campaign will take place from October 1-31 in line with Children’s Book Week and World Mental Health Day on the October 10.

Read It! is being run to encourage children and young people to read as many books as possible and raise valuable funds for Praxis Care. The campaign will be promoted within the Waterstones Stores in Lisburn.

Praxis Care sponsored Read It! 2011 was a fantastic success and was supported by 13 schools and 1,400 children who raised over £13,000.

Praxis Care is the largest Northern Ireland charity providing care for nearly 1,500 children and adults affected by mental ill-health, learning disability, acquired brain injury and dementia.

Within the local area Praxis Care provides the following care and support: St Paul’s Court, Lisburn, is a purpose built accommodation of 15, 2 bedroomed bungalows providing support to older people including people with dementia.

Parklands, Lisburn, is an 8 place house where residents receive support service from 24 hour staff on site.

The Secret Garden, a workskills programme where users are able to gain experience working within a coffee shop and growing plants and vegetables in the garden.

Geraldine Andrews, Fundraising Officer, Praxis Care said: “The Praxis Care Sponsored Read It! will not only encourage the pupils to read books but will help to raise vital funds for Praxis Care and we are urging pupils, young people and schools to sign up to the Read It! Campaign.”
