Pray it for yourself

AREN'T you glad that in His plan for the world God uses ordinary people because if that were not the case, we would never measure up.

The idea that God raises up ordinary people like you and me to do His work makes it all the more remarkable.

Though we tend to think of the people whose stories are told in the Bible as exceptional, look a bit closer and they are just like us. They got tired, made mistakes and dealt with family troubles - just like you and me.

The secret is to place your life before God and make yourself available to be used.

Romans chapter 12 verse 1 has this amazing advice “So here's what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life - your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life - and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him.

"Don't become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You'll be changed from the inside out.

"Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you.”

An unknown author has written the following prayer – "May God bless you with discomfort at easy answers, half-truths, superficial relationships, so that you will live deep within your heart.

"May God bless you with anger at injustice, oppression and exploitation of people so that you will work for justice, equality and peace.

"May God bless you with tears to shed for those who suffer from pain, rejection, starvation and war, so that you will reach out your hand to comfort them and change their pain into joy.

"And may God bless you with the foolishness to think that you can make a difference in the world, so that you will do the things which others tell you cannot be done."

There’s plenty there to be going on with - be brave and pray it for yourself
