At the prayer breakfast each church prayed for Councillors, the Chief Executive and council officers to ensure the Lisburn area continues to prosper and that all communities are supported through the delivery of council services.

The Mayor, Councillor Thomas Beckett, welcoming everyone to the Prayer Breakfast, said: “I am privileged to be part of this innovative prayer initiative that is being run in line with Lent.

“The support across the church denominations is fantastic; and through the use of prayer a number of subjects are being addressed including business, education, health, emergency services and our local communities.

“The churches prayed for guidance to the Council to grow a sustainable local economy, implement a Community Plan to bring together statutory, private and public agencies for the betterment of all and provide a pleasant environment for families to grow up in and our elderly to enjoy their retirement.”
