Pregnant teenager injured by bottle

A pregnant Fountain teenager sustained injuries when a bottle thrown into the estate hit her on the back on Tuesday night.

Alexis Curry is now living in fear following the 'unprovoked attack'.

"It came over the interface wall into the Fountain. I'm scared, it was as if they were waiting for me.

"It's awful to think you can't walk in your own estate without coming under attack," she said.

"There's a red mark on my back where the bottle hit me on the spine. It was just stupid. There was no reason for it.

"This is meant to be a shared city but the people from the Fountain can never go anywhere, they will never fit in," added Ms Curry.

SDLP Councillor Sean Carr, who visited Ms Curry and her family, warned those responsible they could end up in jail.

"Whoever threw this bottle is very irresponsible. Not only could this young girl's life have been destroyed, but whoever threw the bottle could have ruined their life too.

"There are CCTV cameras in this area, they could end up in jail," he said.
