Prehen Woods planning appeal today

The Prehen Woods Planning appeal hearing is starting today.

The hearing is being held in the Waterfoot Hotel, starting at 10.30am today, Tuesday. The appeal hearing is expected to go on all day on Tuesday and if the business is not completed the proceedings will continue tomorrow.

Anyone who contacted the Planning Appeals Commission by sending in the questionnaires or written statements will be offered the opportunity to speak at the hearing in support of the planning permission being revoked.

“It is good if individuals exercise their right to speak at the hearing, however we understand that some people may wish to speak and others may be happy for the Prehen Historical and Environmental Society and our advisers to speak for, and represent them on the day. It would be useful if anyone who is intending to speak at the hearing could let us know as soon as possible,” said campaigner George McLaughlin.

“As the case being discussed at this hearing is exceptionally important, with regard to the preservation of Prehen Ancient Woodland, we would appeal to as many of the friends of Prehen Wood to come along and just by their presence support the argument for revoking the planning permission,” he said.
