Prep going well for Beauty & The Beast

LOTS of hard work is going on behind the scenes for Alternative Medicine Theatre’s pantomime ‘Beauty and the Beast’ in the Braid Arts Centre come January.

The local am drammers will be staging showson January 3-5 at 8pm as well as a matinee at 1.30pm on Saturday, January 6.

Tickets cost £5 for an adult and £4 for children and senior citizens and are now on sale from the Braid Arts Centre Box Office, Bridge Street, Ballymena, 028 2563 5900.

The Alternative Medicine Theatre is a non-profit making organisation and all the proceeds from the production will be donated to local charities and groups.

This year the local Antrim and Ballymena Branch of the Alzheimer and Dementia Society will be benefiting as will the Northern Health and Social Care Trust’s Ballymena Eldercare Team.

All the members of the group are working hard rehearsing, painting scenery, making props and sorting costumes. Lines are being learnt and dance routines choreographed.

As well as this, the Alternative Medicine are holding other fund-raising events. They held a Pub Quiz in The Slemish Bar which proved to e very successful and have extended thanks to all who came and supported the group.

On Friday, November 30, there will be a Craft Fair in the Michelin Athletic Club. Admission is £3 and a light supper will be provided at the event which will feature over 20 stallsselling various items from candles to cards, and cupcakes to handmade jewellery.

Then, on Friday, December 7, there will be a collection in Ballymena’s Tower Centre and on Thursday, December 20, you will have the chance to meet some of the cast and crew at the Broadway Bandstand.
