Prepare for ghoulish goings-on

In Ballymena, everyone is welcome for a special Halloween night at the Mid Antrim Museum where Liz Weir, a Ballymena-born storyteller and author will telling stories from the area.

Liz will tell strange tales of bygone days including the legend of Squire O’Hara and his annual encounter with the White Gates at Crebilly Castle and Dr Colville’s dealings with the devil at Galgorm Castle.

The tour which will be followed by a Halloween-inspired supper takes place at the Mid-Antrim Museum, The Braid, starting at 7pm on October 31 and costs £3. Places are limited so booking is essential.

Mid and East Antrim Borough Council has organised a Halloween Festival at Ballymena’s Ecos Centre on Friday, October 30 from 6.30pm.

It will really go with ‘a bang’ featuring a magic show, storytelling, a samba band, fire jugglers and a travelling fun fair, with a major fireworks display scheduled for around 8.30pm, so there’s plenty going on for all the family.

Admission is £2.50. Dogs are not allowed and children must be accompanied by an adult.

Tickets can be purchased from ecos, Seven Towers Leisure Centre, and the Tourist Information Centre at The Braid.

The 11th Halloween Spooktacular at Junction One will take place on Thursday, October 29 from 6pm to 8pm.

The ghoulish goings on, including the Cool FM roadshow, will end with a fangtastic fireworks display.

This event is jointly organised by Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council and Junction One.

Meanwhile, keep your little terrors entertained with a Halloween Inferno, a physical activity based programme, running at Antrim Forum on October 29 and 30.

The programme is suitable for children aged four to 14 years, and is a great chance to socialise as well as try different sports and activities.

Places cost £8 per child with discount available for two or more children.
