Princely honour for Larne soldier

AS Larne and the rest the world basked in the pomp and grandeur of the royal wedding, a local soldier attended the ceremony in London to carry out perhaps the most memorable duty of his Army career.

Irish Guardsman Jimmy Parke was thrilled to be given the honour of forming part of the guard of honour at Westminster Abbey for the marriage between Prince William and Kate Middleton.

But it wasn’t just a working day for him, as Jimmy and his wife Elaine both received invitations to the wedding of the year itself.
