Principal hails retiring staff

COLERAINE High School said farewell to five members of staff who retired this year.

Paying tribute to their commitment, principal Mrs Bell said they had served the school for an amazing 172 years.

Retiring were:

Miss Trevor, Head of the Mathematics department for almost 40 out of a total of 43 years teaching;

Mrs Elliott, who taught Physics and Mathematics for 37 years and has been Head of Department for 16 years acting as Head of Science during that time;

Mrs Peattie was both a pupil and a History teacher at the school. During her time at the school Mrs Peattie helped to raise an impressive 194,000 pounds for a wide variety of local charities;

Mrs McCloy another past pupil of the school and a teacher of Mathematics for 30 years;

Mrs June Conn, a member of the office staff for 26 years and personal secretary to principal Mrs Bell for the past five years.

The principal commented: “I would like to wish all of our retiring ladies a very long happy and healthy retirement and am confident that they will continue to maintain an interest in school affairs and to support the many school functions.”
