Principal pays tribute to eight-year-old crash victim

Adam died in hospital after the incident which happened as he walked to school with his mother and five siblings at around 8.30am on Tuesday.

Principal of Clough Primary School Mr J.C. Whyte said: “Adam was a pleasant boy who had many friends in his class. He enjoyed his school life and participated in many activities and especially enjoyed P.E. and playing the drum kit.

“Adam was a pupil who was full of fun and wit. He will be sadly missed by all his class friends, school friends and staff.

“A special assembly was held in school in memory of Adam and we also remembered his brothers, sisters and mother in our prayers.

“At this time the Board of Governors and staff would like to thank the emergency services for their quick response. The thoughts and prayers of the Board of Governors, staff and entire school community are with the family at this time.”

It is understood Adam’s mother and a sibling are in a stable condition at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast.

Three of his siblings were treated at Antrim Area Hospital and have been discharged. A sixth child did not need hospital treatment.
