Ownership of an unkempt piece of land in Kilwilkie is to be probed to establish who has responsible for its maintenance, according to Sinn Fein.

Cllr Noel McGeown has contacted Lands and Property Services to find out more about the narrow tract of land that runs alongside the pedestrian pathway leading from the Kilwilkie Estate to the North Circular Road.

“On several occasions we have been successful in getting this area cleaned up through different schemes but all of the relevant statutory agencies continue to deny actual liability. This is an unsatisfactory situation.”

He has contacted the Housing Executive to have the path cleaned up before the children return to school. “This pedestrian way is the direct and safest route for children from Kilwilkie and Lurgan Tarry who attend Tannaghmore Primary School.

Unfortunately as a result of the neglect nettles and thistles have encroached on the pedestrian way making it unsafe for young children.”
