Progess is welcomed at Carnlough development

Coast Road Councillor James McKeown has welcomed a developer’s commitment to address residents’ concerns at a site in Carnlough.

The Sinn Fein member recently met with a representative of Galgorm Properties, the developer behind homes at The Bay Fields.

Mr McKeown attended the site meeting, along with Sinn Fein MLA Oliver McMullan, following concerns from local residents regarding the condition of the housing development.

He added: “This development was started a number of years ago, but only about half of the planned number of properties have been built so far due to the situation with the housing market.

“A number of other aspects of the development have also yet to be completed, and this has caused some concerns for residents.

“Some of the issues include open manholes and an unfinished road.

“At the meeting, we were given assurances that by the end of the month, the road will be finished, the street lighting will be fully operational, and the manhole covers will be secured.

“The developer has also agreed to reduce the fee residents have to pay for the maintenance of the green spaces in the area.”
