‘Progressive year ahead’ for Carrick Community Forum

Over 40 people attended Carrickfergus Community Forum’s annual general meeting in the Town Hall on Thursday evening of last week.

Department of Social Development Minister Mervyn Storey was guest speaker at the event in the Dobbs Room.

Mr Storey told the audience representing 23 groups that since he was appointed minister in September 2014, he has seen first-hand how community groups address issues of social need across Northern Ireland.

He commended the work of Carrickfergus Community Forum for encouraging links between the local government and communities.

A statement from CCF noted that having secured funding until March 2016 and with a new board of directors appointed, it was a very positive meeting with and the members are “looking forward to a progressive year ahead”.

Carrickfergus Community Forum expressed appreciation to attendees, members, the board of directors and project participants for their support before going on to extend a “special thanks to Mervyn Storey for an inspiring and encouraging speech”.
