One lady commented how she remembered parties in the house when it was a private residence while others were pleased to see it being restored and cared for and many hoped this would prevent vandalism and antisocial behaviour.

Work, has been carried out by MFS a specialist in conservation works and is expected to cost approximately £500k. The project started in January and is expected to be completed in May.

The house is a Grade 2 listed building, and all work was carried out in consultation with NIEA.

Work includes completion of internal refurbishment, new floors, ceilings and walls while the conservation includes sliding sash windows, stained glass windows, staircase, plaster cornicing and other features.

The building is being fitted out to modern standards of energy efficiency, IT connectivity and safety and will be turned into a youth resource centre for SEELB.
