Proposed waiting restrictions for Galgorm

BALLYMENA Borough Council have received clarification from Roads Service on plans to introduce waiting restrictions in the Galgorm area.

A letter of response to recent council queries on the proposals was presented to last Thursday night’s planning committee meeting of the local authority from Alec Wallace of Traffic Management.

Mr Wallace pointed out that initial complaints had been received from both local residents and DARD Rivers Agency regarding parking issues in and around the service road and Galgorm Industrial Estate.

Roads Service responded by arranging a meeting with representatives of the PSNI, NSL, DARD, Wrightbus and the manager of the Business Park.

“It was following these consultations that it was agreed that the best way forward was to introduce waiting restrictions in the area,” he wrote.

Mr Wallace also clarified that the proposed waiting restrictions will be enforced by NSL traffic attendants on their regular visits to the Galgorm area.

“Roads Service and the PSNI will be monitoring the area once the waiting restrictions are in place and if the restrictions are not being adhered to we have agreed with NSL that if extra reinforcement is required they will accommodate our request with additional visits,” he stated.
