Prostate Cancer awareness campaign

OVER the next few weeks information will be issued to all Council's male employees to raise awareness of prostate cancer. Posters giving information on the symptoms will be displayed in male toilets in Council facilities, and in staff work areas, providing information to men who work for Council and those who use Council services.

Councillor Evelyne Robinson, Chair of Council’s Health & Environmental Services Committee has lent her personal support to this initiative and is keen to raise awareness.

Speaking in support of the awareness campaign, Councillor Robinson said, “ Early diagnosis of prostate cancer could save the lives of some of the 10,000 men a year who die from this disease. If a man thinks he has any of the symptoms he should see his GP immediately. I would also encourage other employers in the Borough to provide some information to their male employees or signpost them to where it is available. “
