Prostate Cancer Support Group meets in Lisburn

THE Ulster Cancer Foundation’s (UCF) prostate cancer support group is holding its next meeting on Tuesday 13th March at 7.30pm in Lagan Valley Hospital.

The group aims to help patients develop a holistic approach to living with cancer and is complementary to any ongoing medical treatment. This meeting will be facilitated by UCF’s locally based counsellor, Leo McGarry and Oncology Nurse at Belfast City Hospital, Hazel Kyle.

Deirdre Conlon, Care Services Manager, UCF said: “The support group is open to anyone who has been diagnosed with prostate cancer, as well as carers, family and friends and we extend a very warm welcome to all new members. There is no commitment to attend each session and everyone is welcome to come as often and for as long as they wish.

“The support group meetings are informal and there is no pressure to speak about your experiences; you can just come along and listen to what is being said. Patients in the past have gained a lot from talking to people who are in, or have been in, a similar situation as this can help to reduce feelings of anxiety, fear and isolation and improve quality of life.”

Light refreshments will be available. For further information or to confirm your attendance please contact Eileen Creery at UCF on 9068 0742.
