Protesters reiterate call for resignation

Protesters at last week’s rally calling on Health Minister Edwin Poots to resign have said the Lagan Valley MLA no longer represents the interests of his constituents.

Speaking following the protest, Steven Harvey, Chair of the Lisburn Trades Council, thanked those who supported the rally.

“The Lisburn Trades Council would like to thank all those who attended our protest calling for the resignation of Minister Edwin Poots last Friday,” he said. “It is our belief that the minister no longer represents the interests of the constituents of the Lagan Valley area or indeed the people of Northern Ireland.

“We, as residents of Lisburn, refuse to accept this man as our representative.

“It is time to make it clear to Minister Poots that we, the people of Lisburn and of Northern Ireland, want a minister who strives to have a healthy population.”
