School Principal, Brídín Ní Dhonnghaile, welcomed the announcement saying, “We hope that work on the school will begin in the autumn with children able to use the new facilities by Spring of 2015.

“We are delighted with this news and know it will add to the excellent provision offered at the school.”

Gaelscoil an Chaistil was established in Ballycastle in 2000 with an intake of just six pupils however, the school has grown steadily and now has 100 pupils on its books.

Pupils are not ‘taught’ the Irish language but rather the school curriculum is taught in such a way that they acquire the language easily in a straightforward way.

Gaelscoil an Chaistil is comprised of two parts; Naíscoil an Chaistil which is a pre-school and Bunscoil an Chaistil which is an Irish-medium primary school.
