£1,000 grant to fund parents advice centre

A GRANT of £1,000 from a leading building society is set to fund a parents advice centre in Londonderry over the next two months,

The Parents Advice Centre, an organisation that provides guidance and support to parents experiencing a wide range of complex issues, has received a 1000 Community Award from Progressive Building Society, the largest locally-owned mortgage lender in Northern Ireland.

The money will go towards two months running costs of an outreach centre of the Parents Advice Centre in Shantallow, an area of high deprivation and need in Londonderry.

Noel Murray, the local Branch Manager for Progressive Building Society presented the award to the Parent’s Advice Centre at its outreach centre in the Shantallow Health Centre.

Nine organisations, all committed to working for the benefit of their local communities, received support totalling 6,933 in this, the eighteenth round of Progressive’s Community Award Scheme.

Members of the Society who wish to nominate a community group for consideration for a future Award should contact their local branch of Progressive Building Society. The Community Awards are issued twice a year.
