£100,000 of funding will help hire manager to ‘rejuvenate’ Ecos Centre

OVER £100k of funding is to be used to hire an Enterprise Manager at the Ecos centre to try to rejuvenate and develop the facility.

At last week’s monthly council meeting it was confirmed that officers have been successful in securing funding of just over £100k to appoint Enterprise Manager aiming to maximise the site’s potential.

Council Chief Anne Donaghy told members that Ecos needs “developed and refreshed” and a series of meetings have allowed for open discussions for the opportunities at the 150 acre site.

There are number of short terms ideas however these were discussed in closed council, so the council’s action plan has been kept under wraps for now.

Local MLA Paul Frew warned that because the site was a Millennium project, this could possibly cause problems when looking for funding.

He said: “I would support this and the way it’s going. It is very valuable land, right beside St Patrick’s barracks. It could be well placed to provide jobs.”
